Frostrail tier lists
Weapons, Relics, and enemies ranked from interviews and test footage — not from a frozen 1.0 patch.
These lists exist because players type “Frostrail best gun” the same week they type “Frostrail release date.” The honest answer is that Early Access is still planned for Q4 2026, closed tests are snapshots, and FakeFish will keep adding loot, enemies, and train systems. Ranks here are role maps, not gospel.
Open Weapons for firearms and melee. Open Relics for dungeon finds you activate on the train. Open Enemies for Revenants, corrupted soldiers, and why the blizzard is an enemy too.
How we rank while the game is unfinished
Sources, in order:
- Official interviews (including Ez Jämsen on weapon archetypes and the two enemy factions).
- Steam news (Relics, repair benches, clothing, train-defense encounters, multiple exits).
- Playtest and trailer footage — ammo scarcity, doorway fights, cab-as-funnel.
- What the loop actually punishes, documented in How to Play and Survival.
We do not invent damage tables. We do not copy a streamer’s five-minute “S-tier shotgun” as a fact. When a patch lands in Early Access, these pages move.
What “S-tier” means on this wiki
S — solves a common test-build failure (doorway melee, long walk home, train defense) without starving the rest of the crew of ammo or backpack space.
A — excellent in its lane, painful if you force it into the wrong lane.
B — works if the train and clothes are already honest.
C — niche, tutorial, or “we crafted it because the bench was free.”
A pistol can be A for a scout and C for a rear guard. Read the role notes or you will argue in Discord about two different games.
Use the lists with the guides, not against them
A machine gun that looks S on a spreadsheet is a wipe if nobody fuels the Eden Engine. Relics that look S are dead weight until someone activates them aboard. Enemies that look trivial in a trailer are not trivial at −28 °C with a torch in your hand.
Recommended read order for a new crew:
- Getting Started
- Co-op if you are more than one person
- This hub’s weapons page for a first craft
- Enemies so you stop dumping the wrong mag
- Relics after you survive a dungeon on purpose
Keep the survival checklist on a second screen while you argue about shotguns. The checklist wins more runs than the argument.
What will invalidate these ranks
FakeFish’s Early Access letter promises more loot, more crafting, more train upgrades, more biomes and dungeons, and about a year of live tuning. Price may rise at 1.0. Controller support will arrive later. Any of those can flip a weapon’s lane. Watch updates and the roadmap. When official patch notes exist, they outrank this hub.
If you want store, Discord, and socials instead of ranks, use links. If you want to learn the gun’s craft bench before its letter grade, you are in the right religion — go back to Guides.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Are Frostrail tier lists final?
No. They are playtest and interview maps. Early Access in Q4 2026 will add and retune gear. Treat letters as roles, not as a patch bible.
Which list should I open first?
Why isn’t there a character tier list?
Frostrail does not ship hero classes. Crew jobs are agreements — see co-op — not ranked fighters.
Will you add numeric DPS?
Not until FakeFish publishes numbers we can verify. Invented DPS would fail the point of this wiki.
